Getting started
- Open BlankKey once.
- If it asks you to enable the extension, choose Open Quick Look Settings and turn BlankKey on. macOS requires this step once.
- Select a Markdown file in Finder and press Space.
Common questions
Quick Look still shows plain text
The extension is probably not enabled. Open BlankKey and use Open Quick Look Settings, then make sure BlankKey is turned on.
Images from the web are not shown
The Quick Look preview makes no network requests, so a remote image appears as a placeholder naming its host. In the BlankKey window you can choose Show to load them for that document; the choice is not remembered.
Images stored next to the document are not shown
Quick Look cannot read other files beside a document, so those images appear as placeholders in the preview. Open the document in BlankKey and choose Choose the folder… to let it read that folder. You can remove the access later in Settings, under Folders.
Double-clicking a .md file opens another app
In BlankKey’s Settings, choose Open Markdown files with BlankKey.
